All of the materials have arrived in the capital city of Honiara for their biometric voter registration. The final steps of tuning the kits are underway. The computers have been imaged, the people have been trained and the materials are ready for in-country dispatching. Everything is ready to fire on all cylinders.
Their customized multi-biometric voter registration program will begin on March 10th, 2014. A record number of Solomon Islanders are expected to register to vote and will all receive their first voter ID card.
This project will be a logistical challenge. Registration will span over an area of 1.5 million square kilometers. The clerks, trained by ESI personnel, will disperse out to over 300 of the country’s 999 islands.
The end result will be a clean voters list for Solomon Islands. This is expected by June 2014.
