On April 30, 2026, Antigua and Barbuda held General Elections. Parliament was dissolved on April 1, 2026, and the election date was set on April 7, 2026. The elections took place two years earlier than the constitutional election deadline.
A nine-member Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Election Observation Mission arrived in Antigua and Barbuda before the big day to monitor the general elections.
In Antigua and Barbuda, the Prime Minister is generally the leader of the majority party after elections in the House of Representatives. The 17 members of the House of Representatives are elected in single-member constituencies by first-past-the-post voting. They are elected to 5-year terms.
Electoral Services International supplied the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) with election supplies for the vote. The materials were ordered and delivered well in advance of polling day. The ABEC put the country in a ready state of preparedness.
