ESI’s biometric voter registration (BVR) project in Solomon Islands is coming to a close. The registration teams that scattered across the islands and the new voter data that they collected in the field during the nationwide voter registration exercise are back at the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission’s data centre in Honiara.
The voter records have been biometrically matched and are being adjudicated by a dedicated team of IT specialists who have been trained by ESI and the SIEC. The end project result will be another accurate and reliable voters list for Solomon Islands where multiple registrations by the same person will simply not exist.
The BVR exercise has not been without its technical and logistical challenges, but once again with the support of our loyal customer (the SIEC), ESI has been able to persevere towards a successful completion.
Solomon Islands next General Elections will take place in April 2024. The elections were postponed by one year because the Commonwealth nation is hosting the Pacific Games for the first time. The massive sporting event will take place from November 19 to December 2, 2023.
Thank you to the SIEC (and to Solomon Islands and its people as a whole) for treating ESI’s onsite team like one of their own throughout the BVR mission. Our project personnel had a wonderful time once again in the Hapi Isles.
This is not “goodbye”, this is “see you later”.
