Since the worldwide crisis known as the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, more than 50 countries and a handful of territories have either postponed or canceled elections altogether. Much like Suriname and Burundi did last month (May 2020), Saint Kitts and Nevis made a strong decision to hold their General Election as scheduled on Friday June 5, 2020 with proper health measures in place.
For St Kitts, a critical component of the electoral process is the participation of local and regional observers who monitor the elections onsite. For these General Elections during this special time, the National COVID-19 Task Force created special mandatory health protocols to enable the physical participation of a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Election Observation Mission (EOM).
The Electoral Office in Basseterre contacted Electoral Services International Inc. (ESI) to supply them with the necessary electoral materials to facilitate their 2020 Election. The long list of goods included (but was not limited to) personalized ballot boxes (with lids), security seals and voting screens.
Manufacturing, customizing, shipping and delivering the electoral products was not without its complications during these challenging coronavirus times. ESI, at the end of the day, successfully delivered a full suite of supplies (in several tranches) on time.
ESI would like to thank our client’s (and friends) at the Electoral Office in St Kitts for their continued loyalty and support. We are pleased to hear that polling day was a successfully safe, healthy, peaceful, democratic endeavor.
